The Aliens sermon series was developed to explore how we relate to the world, its governments, its societies and its people. As a companion to this series, I highly recommend the book linked below, which covers many similar ideas.

Links to all the sermons are provided at the bottom of the document.

[This is a song I have done in a couple different ways. I've sung it as a solo, but also, because I'm a ventriloquist, I've done it with a puppet. When doing it as a duet (either with another person, or with a puppet), the breakdown of who sings what is shown by alternating normal and italicized text. The chords and lyrics are together at the bottom of the page.]

In today's message we will explore the "culture" of the kingdom of heaven. Perhaps there is no more succinct and beautiful explanation of that culture than the beautitudes that Christ shared during his Sermon on the Mount.

The Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
They shall see heaven's kingdom.
Blessed are the ones who mourn for
They shall be comforted.

Blessed are the gentle ones
And all the peacemakers,
They are God's children
And earth's inheritors.

(chorus) You are a city on a hill, my children.
You are a shining light that can't be hidden!
You are the light of the whole world, my children.
You are a shining light that can't be hidden!

Blessed are the ones who hunger
And all the ones who thirst
For holy righteousness, for
They shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the pure in heart
For they shall see the Lord,
And those who suffer here
Shall earn a great reward.

(chorus) You are a city on a hill, my children.
You are a shining light that can't be hidden!
You are the light of the whole world, my children.
You are a shining light that can't be hidden!
